Ingrown hair removal with laser

A lot of laser and IPL clinics market their treatments for ingrown hairs.

While these treatments are not exactly designed to treat ingrowns they are exceptionally effective in treatment of unwanted hair growth. It is because of that they are so popular with people who suffer from ingrown hairs.

Ingrown hair is a condition where the hair curls back or grows sideways into the skin, penetrating the skin with its tip and causing inflammation.

Ingrown hairs can affect the face, neck, legs, or any part of the body.

They are usually just minor irritations, but can be painful or unsightly.

Moreover, if they are left untreated ingrown hairs can become infected. Unfortunately, while ingrown hair is more common with people having curly hair, almost everybody will get one at some time, and if you shave regularly, you may have to deal with ingrown hairs quite frequently.

It is obvious IPL hair removal and laser hair removal works for ingrowns because over a period of your treatment plan the hair growth in general diminishes. Along the way the unsighly bumps and sores that ingrowns usually leave behind are also treated.

Anything which causes the hair to be broken off short with a sharp tip can cause ingrown hair. Shaving is the leading cause, followed by waxing and tight clothing.

Sometimes an ingrown hair occurs without external intervention, when the pore is blocked from various reasons and the hair is forced to grow sideways.

When a hair is trapped underneath the skin as an ingrown, hair grows sideways along or under your skin, or even rotates in reverse and grow into your skin. At times ingrown hair are accompanied by folliculitis, a condition where the follicle becomes infected.

The typical method to deal with this upsetting problem are exfoliating the skin and removing the affected hairs one by one with tweezers. Neither of these solutions addresses the underlying cause of the problem and may result in horrible scars and scabbing.

During laser hair removal, the laser beam targets the hair follicles deep beneath the skin, disabling the root and stops any regrowth from that follicle. Since the entire hair follicle is destroyed, you do not have to worry about ingrown hairs.

About 85% of all of the hairs on the treated area and most of the ingrown hairs will be gone in about 6-8 sessions, over a period of 6-10 months. You end up with a beautifully smooth, evenly colored skin that is soft and velvety.
